Gabriel Leung (b. 1983) is a multi-disciplinary artist from Hong Kong. He received an MFA from Glasgow School of Art, UK, and a BFA from Tyler School of Art (Temple University), USA. His core practice focuses on conceptual and aesthetic research on the ambiguity of information transmission and reception in relation to uncertainty. With multi-media installations, sculptures, and photography, his research develops out of a conceptual tension between the fragment and the whole, while embracing uncertainty and suspending its impact on our human conditions.
Recent exhibitions include Geopolitical Grounds (Ota Fine Arts, Singapore & Tokyo, 2018); Jimei X Arles: East West Encounters International Photo Festival (Three Shadows Xiamen Photography Centre, China, 2016); Crossing Border | Border Crossing (JCCAC, Hong Kong 2016); First, then and after (Gallery Exit, Hong Kong, 2015), A Journal of the Plague Year (Kadist Art Foundation, San Francisco, 2015); Beyond the Zone (Galerie Ora-Ora, Hong Kong, 2015); And with the benefit of Hindsight (Gallery Exit, Hong Kong, 2014); Glasgow Malmö International Artists’ Exchange (Glasgow, 2013).
